BYRON CAGE
Byron
Cage is not new to the Gospel Music scene, as a young artist he toured
with the late Thomas Whitfield. And if you add to this the production
of Stellar and Grammy Award winning musical genius of Kurt Carr, you
got the making of a great and anointed Gospel Praise Sound. Byron Cage
is one of the early adopters of pure praise and worship elements into
Gospel Music.
Byron spent his childhood growing up in a small town in Michigan, where
extraordinary musical gifts appeared to those around him, early in
life. His mother noticed that Byron preferred to hum some unkown
melodies to himself as a baby.
Besides singing, Byron Cage played the sax throughout his teenage
years. In his late teen years he self-taught hemself to play the
keyboard and became pretty proficient.
At the age of 13, Byron and his family move from the small town in
Michigan, to the big city of Detroit. There he baceme a member of
Greater Grace Temple, which prove to be not only a great place for
spiritual growth, but also for a nuturing environment for developing
musical gifts. Besides Cage, there was the talented Fred Hammond and
several young men who later formed the Gospel Group COMMISSIONED. Cage
later became a vocal soloist and the church's youth choir director.
Years later he went on to serve as Music Director for New Birth Church
in Atlanta (Eddie Long) and Minister of Music for Ebenezer AME in Fort
Wahington, MA.
Byron Cage is the recipient if (5) five Stellar Awardsfor his 2003's
Prince of Prasie and received a 2006 Grammy Nomination 2005 release of
"An Invitation to Worship."
Today---2007---Byron Cage---"Live at the Apollo--The Proclamation"
